Crayon Box Politics (CBP) is a civic education initiative powered by principle, humor, and a whole lot of public records. We believe democracy works best when everyone—not just insiders—can understand how government functions and hold it accountable.

We make politics more accessible, less performative, and radically nonpartisan. From tracking public records to profiling elected officials, breaking down issues, and hosting candid conversations on our podcast, Crayon Box Weekly—everything we do is designed to inform and empower.

Our name? It’s a nod to both a military inside joke and a broader truth: democracy is a crayon box. Messy. Colorful. And better when everyone has something to contribute. Because we’re not here to color inside the lines—we’re here to redraw them, together.

Our Mission

Crayon Box Politics' mission is to provide accessible, well-researched, and diverse political information that empowers individuals to engage in civic life with confidence, believing that an informed electorate is the foundation of a functioning democracy and that political discourse should be inclusive, nuanced, and fact-driven.

  • Our mission is to reimagine civic access by making government data understandable and accessible to all. We believe that informed citizens are the foundation of a strong democracy—and we work every day to bring the facts directly to the people.

  • No. CBP is fiercely nonpartisan. We are independent of political parties, campaigns, and ideological movements. While we don’t shy away from calling out threats to human rights or democracy, we don’t promote candidates or political agendas.

  • CBP content is produced by a small team of humans and AI working together. AI tools help us gather and organize large volumes of public data, but every piece of published content is human-reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and civic relevance.

  • Crayon Box Weekly is our flagship podcast hosted by CBP founders Carl and Avery. Each episode breaks down a timely political or social issue with clarity, candor, and a bit of defiant wit. It’s where civic education meets conversation.
